The thing with Blake is that yes he has potential, but he's not actually improving. Look at his stats here: http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/3989/blake-griffin His FG% went up in his 2nd season, but has been declining ever since. His rebounding numbers declined every year until this year. This year he's at a career high in fouls and turnovers and a career low in assists. His defensive numbers have never been anything to shout about. In his defence his FT numbers are up, but we've gotta wait for a full season of good numbers before we can say he's improved that aspect of his game. He still doesn't have a jumpshot (shooting 37% on long 2s). He's still basically the same player he was in his rookie year. And that's a good player, but that's not a great player. |

Sorry for the double-post, but I'd rather post here then make a new topic. The trade deadline passed almost uneventfully. Indiana traded Danny Granger for Evan Turner and Lavoy Allen. This could be a big trade come play-off time with Indiana having genuine title aspirations. I'm 50-50 on the trade. I like Evan Turner, even if he's not lived up to his No.2 pick status, and I like that it gives them a Plan B if they end up losing Lance Stephenson in free agency, but it definitely has the potential to backfire on them. Granger was a big part of their team off the court, even with his on-court performances diminishing, and the Pacers are a team built around togetherness and team chemistry. A combination of losing Granger and adding the toxic Andrew Bynum could throw that chemistry off. And on-court wise, Evan Turner isn't great defensively, which is a big part of Indiana's identity, and he's also a player who needs the ball in his hands, so they'll have to switch things up offensively to integrate him. But, overall, I like the trade. I hope it works out and gives them enough to beat the Heat and make the Finals, as I'd rather see someone else win the Championship than the Heat win their third. |
